Plugins for ChatGPT

At the end of May, a new edition of Microsoft Build took place focused on artificial intelligence, with new Copilot features for Windows 11 and Edge, as well as new Bing AI and Copilot plugins for ChatGPT OpenAI. Key announcements also included the Microsoft Fabric analytics platform, the introduction of the Microsoft Dev Box for development environments, and enhancements within Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft Build is the largest annual conference hosted by Microsoft and is aimed at software developers and engineers using Microsoft technologies. The event was live in Seattle, but sessions were also available online. They announce platform features and provide in-depth sessions to developers and other professionals who use their tools.

Microsoft Build 2023 kicked off with a keynote address from CEO Satya Nadella, who shared insights on the new era of artificial intelligence and announced the launch of Windows Copilot, Azure AI Studio, and Microsoft Fabric. Satya Nadella’s talk focused on advancements and opportunities in software development. Nadella began by reflecting on the historical advancements in computing and the role of developers in fostering innovation. It highlighted the concept of the Dream Machine and the continuing journey of technological advancement.

At the event, Satya Nadella introduced Azure AI Studio as a powerful toolkit for developers to easily build and deploy cutting-edge AI applications. The Azure AI platform is a true game changer for AI enthusiasts, with robust features and seamless navigation of the latest features. Additionally, there was also the topic of AI safety with Azure AI Safety.

Another announcement was that Bing will be integrated with ChatGPT, becoming the default search mode. This integration allows ChatGPT to provide users with up-to-date answers and relevant quotes directly from the web, enhancing the chat interface’s search capabilities. The integration aims to make AI more accessible and useful to a wider audience, using ChatGPT’s ability to understand and summarize web content, and combining this with Bing’s search capabilities.

The Microsoft CEO also introduced Microsoft Fabric, a comprehensive analytics platform that revolutionizes the use of data. Microsoft Fabric seamlessly integrates Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI, enabling data and business professionals to unlock the potential of their data assets. By using generative artificial intelligence and enabling data-driven decision making, developers can gain valuable insights and drive organizational growth and innovation.

Another announcement was the integration of Copilot software into Windows, making Windows the first PC platform to consolidate artificial intelligence assistance. Windows Copilot serves as a centralized hub for accessing intelligent features, allowing users to focus on their complex ideas and projects without having to switch between multiple applications. The integration offers many capabilities beyond basic tasks, providing a seamless and easily accessible personal assistant within the Windows operating system.
